Whale Tale

 

Born in Adelaide in 1950.

Grew up at Collaroy Beach and the North Shore of Sydney.

Received a scholarship to Southern Illinois University USA 1968-73 and gained a BSc degree in Cinema and Photography. Travelled extensively through USA.

Returned to Australia and worked on a Visual Arts Board Grant at Bryon Bay 1974

Commenced working as a photographer in Sydney 1978

18 images accepted for ACMP Collections of Australian Photography.

 9 Solo exhibitions and over 70 group shows.

Finalist in: ‘Head On’ 3 times, ‘Ulrick and Schubert Photographic Award’ 3 times including winner of Living Art Prize 2003 with ‘Lake Jump’. Finalist in Moran, Olive Cotton and Art and About.

In collections: Manly Art Gallery and Museum, Lismore Regional Gallery, Gold Coast City Art Gallery, Patrick Corrigan and other private collectors.

 Exhibited in Paris, Tokyo, New York, Chicago and Auckland.

1998 produced ‘Beach’ 104 pp the first hard cover Plastic Camera book.

Voted ‘Australia’s Top Art Photographer’ in a 2006 magazine survey.

Appeared on ABC News, Arts Nation, Radio National and as a judge in ABC TV series ‘Photo Finish’

 Taught Plastic Camera Workshops at many clubs tertiary and art schools inc. ‘New Wave Photography’ a MCA accredited NSW High School course.

Founding member of The Ludlites Plastic Camera Group. 14 group exhibitions.
